Hardwood & wooden shutters
If you are looking for wooden window shutters, our premium hardwood (basswood) is the classic choice: stable, lightweight for its strength, and finished with paint or stain so the grain can show through or sit under a solid colour. Hardwood suits living rooms, bedrooms, and period interiors where a natural timber look matters. Softwood (paulownia) is also available where a lighter, sustainable timber option fits the brief.
Composite shutters — vs MDF, PVC & faux wood
Many homeowners search for MDF shutters, PVC window shutters, or faux wood shutters when they want a durable, moisture-resistant alternative to timber. ShutterLab’s answer is waterproof composite: a purpose-built shutter material that will not warp, swell, or rot in humid rooms the way untreated timber or lower-grade board can. Composite is not identical to commodity MDF or thin PVC, but it covers the same buying intent — a hard-wearing, wipe-clean finish with a consistent look — and is UK-made with lead times as short as 3–5 weeks.

We offer a selection of louvre sizes to match any taste and application. Louvres sizes – 47mm, 63mm, 89mm and 114mm.

Hinges
Our hinges have a selection of different colours and finishes as well as having a hidden hinge option for a sleeker finish.
Controls
We offer 4 different types of control mechanism, Central Tilt Rod, Off-set Tilt Rod, ThruView Tilt System and a Hidden Tilt Mechanism.
Blackout option
For the more light-sensitive areas, our shutters come with a blackout option that is made-to-measure in conjunction with your shutter manufacturing.
Fitting Positions
Depending on the area and your preference, shutters can be measured to be fitted as close to the window as possible or on the edge of the reveal, giving the option for the shutters to open flat against the wall.
